Brian first meets with clients to gain an idea of their conceptual designs and an understanding of what they require. He and Don explore the possibilities of what materials to use, and Brian solves the problems of how the job can best be done, taking into consideration the size, scale, and architectural/design elements of the proposed site. Brian ensures the product will mechanically and electrically work in its space. He also researches historical details, if the work is to be a period piece.
Through preliminary drawings a prototype is developed, and in the course of the creation and construction Brian and his clients work together to make any changes needed to insure the luminaire is faithful to the original concept.
